He'll share insights on how Georgia Power is strengthening the electric grid, revolutionizing electricity production at Plant Vogtle, accelerating investments in renewables and cleaner energy, and leading the transition to electric transportation.

John Asbell serves as Georgia Power’s Area Manager for External Affairs. He is responsible for supporting community & economic development as well as the customer experience for the North Fulton and Forsyth County areas.
 
John is passionate about insuring a ‘world-class’ customer experience as well as fostering effective work environments with a focus on highly collaborative and inclusive team environments. He has a history of leadership in strategic community initiatives in the areas of workforce development, primary healthcare, D,E&I, homelessness as well as regional economic development. An active member of the community, John is engaged in many organizations including appointment in 2021 by Governor Brian Kemp to the Middle Chattahoochee Water Council and a graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development. John currently serves currently serves on the boards of both the Greater North Fulton Chamber and Forsyth County Chambers of Commerce as well as President of Roswell Inc. Economic Development Organization. John has served previously as Founding Chair of THINC. College & Career Academy and Chair of both LaGrange-Troup County & Harris County Chambers of Commerce as well as LaGrange College Leadership Council. John is a recipient of the Southern Company’s ‘Southern Style Excellence’ award for ‘Superior Performance’.
 
John & his wife Kimberly are parents of four children and grandparents of two. They have a passion for the outdoors and can often be found in the rivers of north Georgia or the sandy beaches of the gulf.
